Mr. Clean Car Wash announced it expects to open its first Texas franchise in Round Rock by spring 2010. Agile Pursuits Franchising Inc., the Procter & Gamble subsidiary that operates the Mr. Clean Car Wash chain, has strategically selected eastern Texas for rapid expansion. The Round Rock site, located just outside of Austin, could be the first of more than 20 Mr. Clean Car Wash franchises in the Lone Star State.

"Texas is an ideal location for our business," said Bruce Arnett Sr., CEO of Mr. Clean Car Wash. "The climate, the size of the markets, the economy — Texas is a big opportunity for us."

Besides Austin, officials said they also are targeting the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Houston for up to 21 carwashes, with each being new construction projects.

"We're serious about Texas and are taking the steps to make our presence there really big, really fast, and really successful," Arnett said.

Mr. Clean Car Wash currently has 16 locations in Georgia and Ohio, with seven more under development in the Southeast, the Ohio Valley, Chicago and Colorado. A site-selection team recently visited Texas and looked at nearly 50 potential locations for future carwashes. The company is actively pursuing five sites that meet the demographics it believes are necessary for successful carwashes in those markets.

"While franchisees ultimately select their own site, we work actively with them, leveraging our in-depth consumer knowledge and targeting capabilities," Arnett said. "Location is key, and we are starting to identify some great sites in east Texas."
