Mr. Clean Car Wash has officially set its sights on the Chicago market, announcing its plans to open as many as 12 carwash locations in the metro area. To help stir up interest, the company will host an informational seminar for qualified entrepreneurs Feb. 17 in Oakbrook, Ill., officials said in a press release.

Mr. Clean Car Wash currently operates 15 full-service carwash locations in Ohio and the Atlanta area, with six additional facilities under development. Parent company Procter & Gamble previously announced its plans to open 21 carwashes in Texas. Other desirable markets include Los Angeles and New Jersey. The company is currently accepting franchise applications in 46 states.

"Our vision is to become the first national chain of branded carwashes, which presents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to get in early in the growth curve," said Bruce Arnett Sr., CEO of Mr. Clean Car Wash.

Mr. Clean Car Wash multiplexes offer full-service exterior and interior cleaning, as well as exterior-only washes. The carwashes use Mr. Clean-branded protectants, including Mr. Clean Surface Protectant and Mr. Clean Wheel Guard. Both are proprietary formulations from Lustra Professional Car Care Products.

Locations also offer 30-minute express details that include professional orbital-applied cleaner wax, carpet shampoo, and leather conditioning/upholstery care. Most Mr. Clean facilities also will include oil change and vehicle maintenance services, the release said. Pennzoil is Mr. Clean’s exclusive motor oil brand.

Customer amenities include a lounge with big-screen televisions, Wi-Fi, premium coffee and gift shops. Children can enjoy using the Mr. Clean sud-soakers that shoot soapy suds at cars through floor-to-ceiling viewing windows as the vehicles travel through the carwash tunnel.

Each Mr. Clean franchise location will employ approximately 40 people.

"I chose a Mr. Clean Car Wash franchise because I liked that the business model is well-rounded, it's run by one of the best carwash operators in the industry and has access to the marketing power and branding power of P&G," said Don Nix, a franchise owner in Atlanta.

"We're looking for serious entrepreneurs with both the interest and the capital to invest in a franchise backed by a proven business model and a 50-year-old winning brand," Arnett said.

The Feb. 17 event will examine the Mr. Clean Car Wash business model and give prospective franchisees the opportunity to meet the company’s c-level executives and view current premium location options. The event will run from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m., followed by an optional, informal discussion with current franchise owners and refreshments.

"The idea is to connect on a professional and personal level with the aim of developing relationships that will bring our brand to life in a very big way in Chicago," Arnett said.
