California Labor Commissioner Angela Bradstreet issued an open letter to carwash and detailing business owners this month, reminding them that the Car Wash Worker Law has been extended until Jan. 1, 2014. The extension means carwash and polishing businesses must maintain active registration with the state or face fines up to $10,000.
In addition, carwash businesses that do not carry adequate workers’ compensation insurance could also face fines and/or be issued a notice to discontinue operations.
The full text of the Regulations and Labor Code applicable to carwash and detailing registration can be found here. Downloadable forms and instructions on how to register can be found here.
