Ecolab Listed Among ‘Most Ethical’ Companies

06/05/2008

Ethisphere magazine released its list of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” yesterday, spotlighting 93 organizations in various industry segments, including automotive, banking, chemicals, food and beverage, oil and gas, and transportation. Among those with ties to professional carwashing and car care, Ecolab was listed for the second consecutive year. The chemical and cleaning giant was the only chemical company on the list.

In the automotive segment, BMW, Cummins Inc., Honda and Johnson Controls were selected. Others of interest included Flint Hills Resources and Petro-Canada in the oil and gas category, and United Parcel Service and Nippon Yusen Kaisha (Japan) were chosen in the transportation and logistics segment.

Eaton Corp. and Milliken & Co. were among those picked in the industrial manufacturing category, and General Mills, Kellogg Co., PepsiCo and Stonyfield Farm were selected in the food and beverage segment.

According to Ethisphere, the businesses that make the World’s Most Ethical Companies list are those that stand out among competitors in their respective industries and “go above and beyond legal minimums, bring about innovative new ideas to expand the public well being, work on reducing their carbon footprint rather than contributing to green washing and won’t be found next to the words ‘Billion Dollar Fine’ in newspaper headlines any time in the near future.”
