Modular Carwash Structures Deliver Visual Impact (Clear View)

Carwash buildings that use rigid-frame, modular designs and clear sidewalls have achieved a premier position in the carwash landscape. This was not by accident.

These structures offer many advantages and inherent features that appeal to carwash operators, including security benefits, nighttime revenue, low maintenance, short construction time, quick return on investment, good curb appeal, mobility and versatility, among others.

Rigid-frame modular designs with clear sidewalls have been in use in the carwash industry for nearly a decade with hundreds of locations now using the buildings throughout the United States. Modular design options include singlewide, doublewide and multiroof lines, and can house virtually any type of carwash equipment, including rollover units, friction, touchless, tunnel conveyors, and self-serve bays, including sizes to accommodate recreational vehicles and trucks.

For added functionality and design, some modular designs also incorporate translucent polycarbonate panels for the roof that slide open to help vent out excess heat and prevent a greenhouse effect. In addition, custom extruded aluminum compression systems may be available from your builder to secure and seal buildings against humidity and other conditions that could deteriorate materials and cause improper sealing leading to increased maintenance.

Marketing Power

The combination of glass and translucent polycarbonate in sidewalls can be a revenue-generating strategy for some operators. Clear tempered safety glass allows customers to see through the sidewalls of the structure (some sites also install automatic glass cleaners to reduce maintenance). This is a nice security benefit that helps customers feel comfortable using the carwash in the evening hours, knowing they are in plain view within their immediate surroundings. In addition, the light that shines through the building illuminates the entire area and can help attract additional customers during off-peak hours. Lighted buildings are efficient and their own best advertising.

Another marketing benefit is that most modular carwashes can have powder-coated colors to match the branding color scheme specific to a carwash operation or provide a contrasting color that will help the building stand out and entice potential customers who drive past the location.

Design concepts should be carefully reviewed and details calculated to meet local codes. Buildings can be designed to remain in operation during all weather conditions that occur throughout the four seasons of the year.

Mobility and versatility also are key benefits. Some building manufacturers’ components are designed in a way that allows buildings to be disassembled and moved to a new site if desired. If damage occurs during operation due to a driver mishap, the ability to change any damaged components ensures that down time will be as short as possible. Damaged pieces can be removed and new pieces bolted in their place. Depending on the builder, most damages can be taken care of quickly and efficiently.
