Toyota Addresses Concerns Over Highlander
11/27/2002
CHICAGO - According to the International Carwash Association (ICA) the Toyota Highlander front hood deflector can, on occasion, break at the ends in a carwash. The deflector is installed at the port-of-entry or at the Toyota dealership. According to the ICA, the models affected are 2001-2002 model year Highlander vehicles with the Toyota Genuine Accessory Hood Protector. If a hood protector should break in your carwash, have your customer return to a Toyota Dealership. Toyota has issued Technical Service Bulletin OP Code ZT 1431 dated October 10, 2002 to cover the cost of the repair. The repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehension Warranty and is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date, the ICA says. Although the new hood deflector is much more carwash-friendly, Toyota has requested that special care be taken in your carwash to avoid breaking the original hood deflector if possible, says Joe Ward, director of engineering for the ICA. The ICA said Toyota responded to the association immediately and took corrective action on the problem issue. Source: ICA
