Air Force Base Upgrades Carwash

02/03/2010

Patrick Air Force Base in Palm Bay, Fla., held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last month to celebrate the re-opening of its Base Car Wash. The facility now features a PDQ LaserWash G5 system that was paid for through a $154,000 Air Force Space Command Non-appropriated Fund Grant, according to a story posted on the base Web site.

Base officials chose the touch-free unit in part because of its versatility with vehicle types. They also liked that the unit’s Virtual Treadle feature offers an open wash bay without the need for guide rails, the article said.

The carwash also features new signage and a cashless payment system that accepts credit cards and debit cards. U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) vehicle operators also can use their Wright Express (WEX) card, the article said.

Carwashes will be available for $5, $6 and $7.
