Arizona Carwash Installs 90 Solar Panels

The owners of Xpress Lube in Benson, Ariz., have installed 90 solar panels on the roof of the facility’s carwash, according to a report by the San Pedro Valley News-Sun. Terry and Denise Celentano used federal grant money and rebates from the Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Power Cooperative to fund the project.

Terry Celentano told the newspaper the carwash is now 100 percent powered by solar energy.

"My idea here is that I am not going to have an electric bill,” he said. “I wanted a system built that would meet my entire electrical needs.”

Desert Solar Items installed the solar system in about 10 days, the newspaper reported.
