Procter & Gamble’s support for the relief and rebuilding efforts in Haiti has surpassed $2 million, the company announced. P&G product donations total more than $1.2 million with more than $800,000 in additional cash and donations coming from the company, its employees and retirees. Product donations include bar soaps, batteries, bleach, diapers, dish detergents, feminine hygiene products, flashlights, laundry detergents, paper towels, shampoos, toilet tissue, tooth brushes, toothpaste and wipes. P&G also has committed to provide 6 million packets of PUR, the company’s water purification product. Company officials said the quantity is enough to treat 60 million liters of water, about a three-month supply for 340,000 people. Product and cash donations are expected to increase during the next two months, officials said. P&G also announced it is donating all profits from Tide vintage T-shirt sales at www.tideloadsofhope.com this month to disaster relief efforts in Haiti. In addition, Tide will match donations up to $250,000. The Tide Loads of Hope program has partnered with the Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Chapel and Samaritan's Purse to provide clean hospital bed linens to Haiti. "P&G, its brands and employees are committed to touching lives and improving life by helping the people of Haiti recover and rebuild," said Bob McDonald, company president and CEO. "We are very thankful for our partners on the ground in Haiti who are delivering critical supplies to meet the most urgent needs of earthquake survivors in Haiti." P&G's disaster relief team began working with humanitarian relief partners within 24 hours of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti Jan. 12. Relief partners include World Vision, Pure Compassion Ministries, AmeriCares, CARE, Global Medic and Population Services International. Related Articles:
