Shopping Mall May Get Waterless Carwash

A mall in Danbury, Conn., may soon be home to a waterless carwash operation. Sergey Larkim and Maria Tretyakova have applied to place the business near the parking-garage entrance of the Danbury Fair mall, according to a report by The News-Times. The business would wash cars while customers are shopping.

Based on Australian techniques, the waterless system uses a coconut-based cleaning agent that is applied to the vehicle then removed by hand using a microfiber towel, the article said. Vehicles are hand buffed for extra shine. Basic wash services would be offered for $19.99, with premium services also available. The business also would provide valet service.

Zoning officials are scheduled to address the proposal during a public hearing on Wednesday. Larkim and Tretyakova also are considering offering waterless carwash services to a mall in Milford, Conn., the article said.
