HUNTLEY, IL -- An Illinois Zoning Board of Appeals recently recommended Village Board approval of a subdivision, rezoning and special-use request to permit construction of a carwash in the Sun City, IL area, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Lloyd Powell, carwash owner and Sun City resident, said the carwash will reflect a 1950s theme and will include an auto detailing service, similar to the wash he operates in Arlington Heights, IL.

The zoning board's primary concern was the difficulties that might arise with off-street parking and storage space for cars waiting for the carwash. Powell assured the board ample parking would be provided, adding that the off-street drive-through lanes could accommodate up to about 23 cars, an estimate far in excess of anticipated traffic.
