Champ Car Wash in Essex Junction, Vt., was scheduled to hold a benefit yesterday to raise money for a paralyzed soldier, according to a report by WCAX-TV. The carwash said it will donate 100 percent of Thursday’s proceeds and tips from its two locations in an effort to help Andrew Parker make his home wheelchair accessible.
Parker was injured by a roadside bomb while serving in Afghanistan and subsequently was awarded a Purple Heart. According to reports, Parker cannot move into his Hyde Park home permanently until it is renovated to accommodate his wheelchair.
The community has rallied to assist Parker, raising $50,000 earlier this month. Champ Car Wash said it hoped to wash 1,000 cars at each of its locations.
