Three teams remain in Jiffy Lube’s nationwide contest to determine its best service center employees. The final teams have completed four rounds of regional competition, beating out more than 2,000 other service centers for a chance to vie for a $10,000 team grand prize and the title of Jiffy Lube J-Team All Stars Champion. Second- and third-place winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500 team prizes, respectively.
The final competition will take place Aug. 19, with the winners announced the following day during an awards dinner at Jiffy Lube International’s 30th anniversary celebration and annual convention.
Each J-Team finalist will display their teamwork and skills by performing a Jiffy Lube Signature Service oil change for two customers. Teams will be judged by six Jiffy Lube district managers, who will rate the teams’ performances based on the quality of service performed and how well they deliver a WOW customer experience. The teams also will be timed to determine which is the fastest in case there is a tie score.
The franchise-wide competition is the first for Jiffy Lube, which designed the contest to celebrate teamwork, enthusiasm and dedication.
“We established the fast-lube category 30 years ago, and the values of convenience, speed and quality service that the company was founded on are more important than ever,” said Rick Altizer, president of Jiffy Lube International. “The J-Team All Stars competition celebrates our commitment to excellence, and encourages every service center to uphold that commitment to every customer and vehicle they service.”
The three finalists are:
Store #3211 in Herriman, Utah, owned by USP Group. Team members include Quincy Hooker, customer service advisor; Austin Corbell, courtesy technician; Wes Van Valkenburg, lower bay technician; Anthony Thompson, upper bay technician; and Stephen Poulsen, team leader and manager.
Store #138 in Des Moines, Iowa, owned by Ord Enterprises. Team members include Tyler Ollerich, customer service advisor; Kyle Lloyd, courtesy technician; Rudy Ezekias, lower bay technician; Sam Walker, upper bay technician; and John Bruce, team leader.
Store #516 in Quakertown, Pa., owned by Mid Atlantic Lubes Group. Team members include Bonnie Kisutcza, customer service advisor; Jen Dilts, courtesy technician; John Bauer, lower bay technician; Nicole Landis, upper bay technician; and Jeremy Garber, team leader.
Each of the three teams brings something different to the competition. The Des Moines team has been highly motivated from the beginning of the competition. After relentless practice sessions, the team received a perfect score of 100 during one of the qualifying rounds. Not to be outdone, the team members from Quakertown also received a perfect score during the round that determined division champions. In addition, three of the five Quakertown team members are female. The members of the Herriman J-Team are the most experienced, with 24 years of combined service to Jiffy Lube.
“This competition has been a fun and exciting way to reinforce the essence of what Jiffy Lube provides to our customers: fast, dependable preventive maintenance services every visit,” said Ed Williams, Mid Atlantic Lubes franchisee. “It’s really motivated our employees to work together and continue delivering exceptional customer experiences in their service centers.”
