Since 2004, Cloister Wash & Lube has honored veterans and service personnel with free carwashes during its Grace for Vets event held each Veteran’s Day. The promotion has grown into a national celebration, with hundreds of carwashes participating in the program. Organizers believe the event demonstrates the carwash industry’s united support of military service personnel and have invited interested carwash facilities to join the campaign.
Grace for Vets this year will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Since its inception, the event not only has provided thousands of clean cars but has grown outside the carwash community to include other businesses offering promotions in support of veterans, organizers said.
“I have asked my local competitors to join in on the program. Grace for Vets is not about Cloister; it is about doing what is right for our service personnel,” event creator and Cloister President Mike Mountz wrote last year in Modern Car Care. “We have been blessed with some great operators who have supported the program from the beginning.”
Carwash operators and car care facility owners interested in joining this year’s campaign should visit the Grace for Vets Web site (www.graceforvets.org) for additional information, tips on how to get started, and access to promotional materials. The site includes letterhead, logos, program documents and sample signs, handouts and advertisements.
The material is currently available for any business to download, but organizers soon will be adding a registration form that new participants will have to fill out prior to downloading. Previous participants will already have registration access.
