Amnis LLC has acquired Kim Supply Inc., a catalog distributor of carwash equipment and supplies and a manufacturer of self-serve carwash equipment, according to a company press release. Amnis will continue to operate the business as Kim Supply. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“What attracted us to this organization was Kim Supply’s excellent reputation, true commitment to customer satisfaction, substantial customer list, and talented and experienced staff,” said new owner Kyle VanGoethem. “We are impressed by the passion that Kim Supply’s staff has for their customers and the trust and loyalty they’ve built with those clients over the years. Building relationships with customers and serving their needs is our top priority, and we’re committed to upholding that precedent already established at Kim Supply.”
Kim Supply was founded in 1954 by Orville Kimsey as an agricultural equipment manufacturer and wholesaler. In 1965, his son and eventual CEO Tim Kimsey recognized the commercial potential of the emerging carwash industry and began to shift the company’s emphasis toward supplying the carwash market where it has remained the last 40 years.
When Tim Kimsey died in 2007, company leadership shifted to his wife Linda Kimsey.
“I was very careful about who I chose to sell the business to. I wanted to make sure that any new owners would carry on the values and core principles that made Kim Supply such an excellent company,” she said. “I will miss my friends and colleagues in the industry, but I am extremely confident that Kim is in good hands.”
