New York Carwash Event Goes Virtual with Skype


The New York State Car Wash Association’s (NYSCWA) marketing seminar drew approximately 45 attendees April 14 and featured a virtual presentation from industry marketer and Wash Ideas podcast host Ryan Carlson. The seminar used Skype to broadcast Carlson remotely to attendees who had gathered for the meeting and dinner at The Clarion Hotel at The Century House in Latham, N.Y.

“The Skype technology enabled us to see and hear our speaker even though he was in Minnesota,” said NYSCWA President Mark Kubarek. “It was really neat and tied into our topic of how to best use social media to market your wash.”

Carlson spoke for more than an hour, providing strategic marketing tips in a down economy, including how to use Facebook and Twitter.

The event was sponsored by Simoniz USA, Mang Insurance and the Northeast Carwasher magazine.

The association’s next event will be its annual trip to Citi Field June 22 for a baseball game between the New York Mets and Detroit Tigers. Attendees will experience a two-hour buffet, beer, wine, a game ticket and access to the exclusive Empire Party Suite.
