Beginning with most 2012 model year vehicles, Mystik Lubricants announced GF-5 will replace GF-4 and API Service SN will replace SM in its JT-8 Premium Gasoline Synthetic Motor Oils. The change meets new International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) standards and will help drivers achieve better fuel economy, engine cleanliness and emissions systems durability.
The balanced combination with an advanced additive system is designed to provide protection for engines in cars, vans, sport utility vehicles and light trucks.
“The GF-5/SN upgraded Mystik JT-8 Premium Gasoline Synthetic Motor Oil blends are available in three viscosity grades so there is a right product for any driver,” said Scott Riebel, product manager, CITGO Lubricants.
General Motors has introduced its own dexos system, but Mystik JT-8 Premium Gasoline Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 5W-30 is formulated to meet GM’s dexos 1 specifications. CITGO will guarantee the performance of the upgraded Mystik product in all GM vehicles, Riebel said.
Licensing for the new GF-5 additive began Oct. 1. Mystik was scheduled to begin converting JT-8 Premium Gasoline Synthetic Motor blends and packaging this month, with GF-5/SN packaged product available to consumers by mid-November.
